Hipnautica is an organic collective based around the artistic direction and inspirations of Kelly "sky" Reed. A 20 year veteran of the Austin electronic music scene, and a world traveler who fuses the inspirations from his travels into a sound which is reverent and deeply connected to the world around us. Bridging gaps between multiple genres and appealing to an audience that is open minded and willing to explore sound.
The origins of Hipnautica spawned from his solo work but today the project adapts in many ways to fit the ideas of our members and special guests. While Sky is the still the main composer of Hipnautica's material, today Hipnautica features as many as 23+ creative minds surrounding Sky like a cosmic whirlwind.
"I intended to create a project that would inspire creative minds to join me in a shared vision, to bring their talent and experiences to life based on historical and continually evolving personal inspirations revolving around consistent aesthetics a blend of spiritually reverent visions and dynamic performances. Unlike many that use costumes to distract and like a crunch, typically Hipnautica fuses the visual impact to emphasize the audio experience. I hope to weave together creative souls, and focus their energy to bring very personal, often emotional messages to the world through controlled chaos. From open raw energy to the spiritually serene, from industrial machine to the live organics... Hipnautica is a musical chameleon and more like a production company than your ordinary band.
Through the personal challenges of working with such a diverse and massive group I can say now that I'm actually only more confused than ever by the human psyche. It's been an overwhelming experience over the last 5 years and I've loved every minute of it."
