Crimson Scarlet, forged in hell fire under a full moon, summoned by witches, the embodiment of forsaken spirits of the ancient world. This Santa Barbara 4 piece has pulled back the beautiful façade of their coastal village home revealing something darker, something unearthly.

Like a commune between the spirits of the old world and the new, Crimson Scarlet’s sound lashes out, powerful and blistering. Voices of the forgotten, echoing the wolf’s howl and the banshee’s cry, are channeled trance-like through front woman Chelsey Crowley, summon the powers of nature to their bidding. Limbs and branches twist and bend in the still night as the forest floor stirs and pulses. Stark and rigid rhythmic patterns, conjured by Jason Stoops, loom heavily like storm clouds over the desolate land. The hollows offer no refuge from the hissing, snarling guitar riffs unleashed by Chuck Franco and Carly “Phoenix” Gonce, scouring the earth like unholy winds. The General (drum machine) meticulously and tediously programmed by Anxious Boy, wields the power to blacken seas, tremble mountains, and raise the dead.

The Sanctuary 7” marks the first release to materialize from the mist shrouding Crimson Scarlet. A side, “Sanctuary,” with preternatural allure, beckons like the crow that raps the windowpane, or the stray that stalks the alley, but beware the shape shifter. While B side “Two Kinds of Red” is a trip down the rabbit hole, a journey into realms unknown. Together, they have created something ominous, mysterious, and sophisticated to cut through the veil of their surroundings and exhume the true power just below the surface. The bones are aligned, the crystal blessed, the blood of the serpent spilled. The spell has been cast, the spirit world unlocked. All are damned.

Demand for Rammstein’s pyrotechnic-laden performances has been so great in Europe, where they regularly play capacity level soccer stadiums, the band spent nearly a full decade without setting foot on North American shores. In December 2010, the sextet returned to North America for two sold out shows including a performance at Madison Square Garden. Rammstein followed with a 9-day trek of major North American cities in Spring 2011.

The Los Angeles Times described the live experience as “…epic stagecraft on a Wagnerian scale, several notches up from most arena rock.”

The tour announcement comes on the heels of news of the band’s first retrospective release, Made In Germany 1995 – 2011, which will be available in North America (through a distribution deal between Universal Germany and Vagrant Records) on Dec. 13. Rammstein recently released “Mein Land,” a new four-track digital single that features two new songs: the title track and “Vergiss uns Nicht” as well as remixes from BossHoss and Mogwai. A video directed by Jonas Akerlund for “Mein Land” is also currently featured Rammstein.com. Rammstein’s most recent full-length album, Liebe Ist Für Alle Da, debuted at #13 on the Billboard Top 200 in October 2009.

Rammstein first stormed America in 1998, touring with a set based on their Grammy-nominated breakthrough second release, Sehnsucht, featuring Du hast, the song that brought the world’s attention to the band. During their 1998 Family Values tour, praise was high, as well as indignation: band members were jailed in the US on indecency charges due to the highly provocative live show.

Announced earlier this week, the Berlin-based band have a new single, “Mein Land,” set for a Nov. 11 release. “Mein Land” will be available as a four-track release via iTunes with an unreleased song, “Vergiss Uns Nicht,” as well as remixes from BossHoss and Mogwai accompanied by the Jonas Akerlund directed video for Mein Land video and a digital booklet. The Amazon version will be “Mein Land” and the two remixes. The video for “Mein Land” will premiere on Rammstein.com on Nov. 11.
